Can you add side stones to an existing ring?
“I’d like to know whether you can add side stones to my existing diamond solitaire ring, which my husband purchased from Brian Gavin a few years ago. I’m thinking that my one carat total weight diamond stud earrings, which were also purchased from BGD, would look pretty amazing set on either side of my 1.50 carat center stone! And then maybe I can upgrade to larger diamond earrings in the near future, something in the range of 0.75 carats each, those half carat diamonds aren’t looking so large anymore! Laughs! I remember when Lesley told me that I’d get used to the size, and I thought to myself, “Never, they’re SO big!” Oh apparently I’ve got the diamond bug bad!”
Setting existing diamonds in a three stone ring:
The best approach is for you to select a three stone setting from Brian Gavin that you like, and then we’ll set your existing diamonds in that three stone setting, which will be custom made to fit diamonds of those exact sizes. There really is not a good way to add side stones to your existing ring and have it look good, but I looked up the details for your diamonds, and they would look amazing set in this 18k yellow gold, three stone trellis setting from Brian Gavin! Naturally we will buy back the gold in your old setting as scrap gold, which will help offset the price of the new setting; we can also make this ring in white gold or platinum, but I noticed that your existing ring is yellow gold.

Now repeat after me… “Oh these old things? I’ve had them for years; they probably just look bigger because they’re clean.” Jumping up to 0.70 carat diamond studs from fifty pointers isn’t that much of a leap, your husband might not even notice; I mean, it’s not like you’re upgrading to this 2 ct. t.w. pair of diamond stud earrings or anything, that would be really bad! Nope, I’d never encourage you to do anything like that! LOL
