Gina and Kevin’s Classic Proposal

Relationships are filled with first experiences. From the place a couple shares their first kissed to the place they say "I do," every moment becomes a pin in the map of telling their love story. For Kevin's proposal, he planned to revisit the place where it all began.

Kevin and Gina met the first week Gina moved to Calgary, Alberta from Ottawa, Ontario after finishing her degree. "A friend of hers approached me at the bar and asked if I wanted to meet her friend – I saw Gina and said, 'uh, yes!'" Kevin reminisced.

Before Kevin could revisit the place he fell in love with Gina, he came to Brian Gavin Diamonds. It didn't take long for Kevin to realize Gina was the person he wanted to spend his life with. When we asked Kevin when he knew she was the one, he told us the story of the couple's adventurous hike in Calgary. "We took a trip to the mountains for a pretty intense hike—we were both very unprepared in running shoes instead of hiking gear and in lululemon climbing the side of a very snowy mountain. We completed the entire hike and when we go to the top I realized how special Gina was—how she wasn't like anyone I'd ever met before. I knew then."

With such a memorable history made on the mountain, it seemed perfect for Kevin to take Gina back to the place they fell in love. "I knew it was the place I was going to be with her forever so I thought it would be the perfect place to make that promise to each other," Kevin said.

Thinking the two were going to have a normal dinner in the Rockies, Gina was caught completely by surprise. "He drove us to a waterfall in Kananaskis—our favorite spot," Gina said. When he said he needed to grab his jacket in the car, he came back and tapped her on the shoulder. By the time she turned around he was waiting on one knew. "It started to pour and we both cried—I obviously said yes!" she said.

Gina loves her Brian Gavin Diamonds ring and calls it "timeless." "When I saw the ring I gasped—it was so perfect!" she said. "So elegant and classy. I was madly in love at first site," Gina continued.

The couple headed to their vacation in Costa Rica the next day, their new promise to each other sparkling under the tropical sun. They are looking forward to celebrating their love with family and friends come their wedding day. "It's tough because our family/friends live in different provinces, so having them all together will be such a lovely experience," said Gina.
