Andrew and Carey’s Perfect Proposal
As the saying goes, "third time's a charm"—at least in Andrew and Carey's case. Our customer Andrew picked out the perfect Brian Gavin Diamonds ring, made for a truly special proposal, for his girlfriend, Carey. From working with Taylor Swift's agents to dealing with unforeseen rain, he dealt with every obstacle under the sun until arriving at Plan C…a beautiful proposal that gave us goose bumps.
Andrew submitted the story in our National Proposal Day Contest with the preface, "I hope you're sitting down and ready for a good read." The wonderful aspect of every Brian Gavin Diamonds creation is the story it will carry for years to come.
Carey and Andrew met on the dating app, Tinder, and he was initially hesitant to meet someone online. After talking for hours on end, the two decided to meet on Andrew's birthday to play mini golf for their first date. "I know in the movies they say 'it was love at first site,' and that's exactly how I felt when she walked in," said Andrew. "She made me realize, there really is a soul mate for everyone out there somewhere."
Months after dating, Andrew confidently began ring shopping. Carey, a diamond consultant by trade, had knowledgeable coworkers that pointed Andrew in the direction of Brian Gavin Diamonds where he purchased a fiery Brian Gavin Blue diamond in a platinum Melissa setting.
"I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of customer service I received as well as the product," said Andrew. With ring in hand, he just needed to pop the question. Andrew made three wild attempts to propose to Carey:
Attempt 1: Andrew tried talking to a local radio host about getting on stage to propose at the concert of Carey's favorite music artist, Taylor Swift.
The Obstacle: The T. Swift team was tight for time and couldn't fit in Andrew's request.
Attempt 2: Andrew was almost sure that a surprise trip to the local dog park to their favorite "spot" would do the trick. The two would be surrounded by friends as Andrew played guitar and sang "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz.
The Obstacle: LOTS of rain, making an outdoor proposal a bust.
Attempt 3—the winner: After two foiled attempts to pop the question, Andrew decided to take Carey back to their first mini golf date. In on the secret, the staff asked Carey a trivia question in exchange for tickets to buy a prize. The prizes varied from yo-yos to small toys, but Andrew needed Carey to ask for the fake ring.
Once she chose the plastic ring, the mini golf employees switched it for the real deal. When Carey turned around, Andrew was already on one knee. Of course, Plan C worked like a charm!
To her surprise, Andrew had also flown in her best friend for a visit who had helped buy Carey a celebration dress for the bride-to-be. When they arrived back to their home, a beautiful outfit was waiting on the bed for Carey to wear before they jetted off to a 5-star hotel for dinner with all of her closest friends. Carey, completely astounded and in tears, said it was the happiest day of her entire life.
We are so honored to be part of this incredible couple's love story. Congratulations, Andrew and Carey!
